- Research and analyze historical data relating to teams and players. Understanding and applying data as such will assist you in making informed decisions.
- Trend analysis can also be helpful to you. Understanding trends provides valuable insight into recent player and team performance, how specific teams and players perform against certain opponents, coaches, in different weather conditions, at home or on the road, etc. Keeping track of coaching changes and/or changes in team strategies can also be beneficial to you.
- Following expert analysis is another way to improve your knowledge and make more informed decisions. There are many different websites, articles, videos, etc. you can access in this regard.
- Advanced/predictive analytics can provide benefit to you by utilizing data, algorithms, and complex models to analyze and predict players and team performances.

Having knowledge of the factors changing projections, and whether the movements are being driven by the public vs. experts/professionals can provide important information prior to making decisions. Additionally, using the predictive analytics noted above, and comparing the information to actual projections, and any changes in original projections, is another useful type of analysis.
- Joining online forums and communities will allow for discussions and idea sharing with your peers.
- Monitoring injury and weather reports both provide key insights into upcoming games. For example, the absence of certain players can have a more adverse impact on the performance of a team vs. other players. Weather conditions for games played outside can dramatically change the dynamics of a game as conditions such as rain, snow, and/or wind can affect player and team performances, this leading the different outcomes than expected. Some players and are better adapted to playing in these types of weather conditions than other. Ultimately, by combining information from both injury and weather reports, you can make more informed decisions.
